Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this role, she won the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. The actress is second youngest recipient in Oscar History. Canadian actress and New Zealander, who, when she was a child, won the Academy Award in 1993 for the best support actress. Paquin moved to New Zealand from Canada as a little girl and grew in the country. When she responded to a request for auditions, she was able to audition at age nine years old, with no acting experience before that, she won Flora McGrath's role. Flora is the daughter of an Scottish pianist, who was deaf. They moved from Scotland to New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century in an effort to plan a wedding. At the age of a teen her family left Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin appeared as Jane Eyre's title character as an teen in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) and her main character for the character in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the Spanish queen in a lesser role.
